Matthew Roberts

Matthew joined JB Lawyers LLP as an articling student in 2024, and became an associate of the firm in 2025. Matthew maintains a broad solicitor practice, with a particular focus on corporate, commercial, and real estate law.

Matthew studied law at the University of Victoria, where obtained his Juris Doctor with a designation in Co-Operative Education. Before pursuing a legal career, Matthew received a Bachelor of Arts. (Hons.) in International Relations from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, which led to him spending a summer working as an economic development intern at the Organization of American States in Washington, D.C. Born and raised in North Vancouver, Matthew lived in New Brunswick while completing his undergraduate degree. Matthew then spent two years in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he worked with a major Canadian insurer as a policy coordinator in their “Elite Advisor” life insurance team.

When not in the office, Matthew and his wife enjoy exploring all that Victoria and Vancouver Island have to offer. Matthew is an avid sports fan, and loves playing soccer, golf, running, and biking. Matthew also loves learning and speaking languages: he speaks French fluently and German and Spanish conversationally.
